Why Restore

The windows in a historic home were made of first growth virgin timber from a time when the wood was much more dense and durable than any modern wood. It is the very reason that the sash has lasted 200 years already. They can be restored to their original beauty and function, and with proper weatherstripping cut down on air infiltration.

Our Philosophy is to preserve original building "fabric" as much as possible. Many of the nations historic windows have been replaced with modern replacement windows, only to have them fail in only 20 years.

They will need replaced again  and again in the future of the home. Your windows CAN be restored and will last another 200 years if cared for.

The value of a historic home is directly proportional to how much original fabric of the building is still intact.

Original window sash with wavy glass maintains the charm that owners wanted in an old house or building.

Weatherstripping can cut air infiltration dramatically.

Modern window manufacturers want you to believe that  all old windows are not worth saving.

Their new windows have a high R value compared to old windows, but if the rest of the historic structure has limited insulation, just cutting out air infiltration provides a huge improvement.

Ask anyone with modern  , tilt in windows,  how many times they actually cleaned them since they were installed?

We also can put the correct vintage windows back into a building that had been modernized in the past .

We stock sets of vintage sash and wavy glass for our historic  projects.
